As most of you now know, Putrid Wargames Supplies UK is due to close up for good. It is a sad time, and we will miss every customer we’ve had over the past year, but the time comes for everyone, and we’ve had a good run. You have all been valued customers, and before we go into the Aether, will want to do something special for you.
Until the end of June, all items in-stock are discounted. As well as this, 5% of all our sales until we close will be donated to Help for Heroes. We have added an additional donation option, which will allow you to donate an extra £1 should you wish to; if you wish to donate more, simply increase the number of £1 donations you wish to make. You can check the store-page for further details.
Now, to finish off today’s news update, here’s a selection of ever-fantastic community updates. Before we go, we strongly urge you to follow these guys and support their work; without them, we wouldn’t have started this business, and wouldn’t have met so many great people along the way.

We are proud to announce a new website for the business, renamed Putrid Wargaming Supplies UK. You can access the new site by going to www.wargames-uk.co.uk, whilst the old site will now direct you towards the new web-store. This will be the case for the next year, so you can get used to using the new domain. It will take some time to adjust to the changes, and the new store is still in-progress, but we hope you will all enjoy the new site and the plans we have for it.

Hello, I’m Matt. You may remember me from such broadcast media outlets like Power Armoured Metal and….
*Normal-mode*
Hello everyone. I am Matthew Davies, and I have just joined the Putrid Painting team as their new online media editor. Before I take my place on my mighty skull-lined throne as a wanabee press baron, I thought I’d share a little bit about who I am and what you can expect from the Putrid blog in the future.
I am a 21 year third-year journalism student from North Yorkshire, England. I am soon to graduate, which is actually a bit scary now that I think about it! I have been a war-gamer since I was in primary school, so in theory, I should know a thing or two about 40k and other war-games. I’m a new-ish player to Bolt Action, and you can expect me to get very giddy when Putrid gets new Axis items in store, or in fact any items (if you have seen my early-war German force, you will know I have a habit of looting tanks from other armies, with plans to add a Somua S35 and a mighty KV-2!). When I’m not gaming you can find me at heavy metal gigs, dying my hair odd colours or in my car that doesn’t strictly move at the moment.
Before coming here to help out at Putrid Painting, I have been working here and there a journalist in and outside the war-gaming world. I am the owner and editor of Power Armoured Metal, a bi-weekly news, review and gaming blog, where I share the many adventures I have within the hobby. The blog has been running for around two-and-a-half years now and has proved pretty popular. If you haven’t liked the page on Facebook yet, like it now (Adam will back me up on this!) Outside of the hobby, I have worked a bit in local newspapers as a reporter, namely The Scarborough News and the Barnsley Chronicle. I have also worked briefly for a music web-magazine (who shall not be named because they were evil, and not the good kind of evil where I’m promised cookies if I conquer other planets). Being a journalist gives me a great chance to meet with people who I wouldn’t normally get to meet in person. Through this I’ve managed to speak with people from bands, magazine editors and charities.
In terms of the blog, I’m going to make a few changes, nothing too drastic mind, since Adam and Emily have a really good setup here. The blog will become your one-stop-shop for Putrid news and updates. I have a few ideas in the pipeline, namely regular ‘staff projects’. Hopefully, every week or two, the Putrid team (either one of us or all of us) will share what they’ve been working on, whether it is a model or a new army. I thought it would be fun to share our enjoyment of the hobby with you.
That’s enough of a monologue from me: now it’s time to get on with the weekend’s news!
Putrid News
International Table-top day
We, along with the local gaming community, will be celebrating International Table Top Day next month! We will be attending an event at the Mid Wales Wargaming society. We will be there from 10am until 8pm. The Club, which meets at St Marys Church Hall on Church Street in Builith Wells, Powys, will be hosting several participation games for you to enjoy, with free entry.
At the Mid Wales Wargaming Society event, we will be demonstrating several games, including the following:
Dropzone Commander (Hawk Wargames)
Urban War (Urban Mammoth)
Deep Wars/Shadow Sea (Antimatter Games)
X-Wing (Fantasy Flight Games)
Empire of the Dead (West Wind Productions)
MERCS (West Wind Productions)
Wolsung SSG (Micro Art Studio)
Bushido (GCT Studios)
A schedule for when we will demo which games will be announced on the Facebook page soon.
As well as that, there is an event over to Tredegar Reavers Wargames Club, from 9am to 9pm on Saturday April 5. From board games to table-top, there’s plenty to enjoy. You can find the club at the Kids R Us Venue 2, on Nantybwch, Tredegar.
Catalogue Discontinuation
We will be discontinuing our catalogue supplements from this month. As we have almost completed updating the 4000-plus items to the web store, we see no need in having the catalogue. Updates on when products will be active, and new products, will continue on this blog. For club visits we will still have a catalogue or two at hand.
New Releases
Megalith Games
Four new items have been released on the web-store for Megalith Games’ Godslayer.
First off, we have the Cromlech Guard set, which comes with six finely detailed models and 12 tokens.
Fans of the British world-war-two-themed comedy Dad’s Army will enjoy this commemorative box set. The box set contains 18 models of the most loved characters from the show, both in ‘civvies’ and in Home Guard uniforms. These would make a great addition to British forces.

Hello and welcome to the Putrid Painting Blog! THE place to get the latest and greatest news on the inner goings on of Putrid Painting!
First off I would like to apologise for the lack of regular updates, it’s been a busy few weeks for myself and Emily and we hope to get back into the usual rhythm soon!
Putrid News
Those of you who follow us on Facebook and Twitter will already know about this but heck there’s no harm in being reminded!
The January supplement for our catalogue is now available to download, this is meant to be read alongside the main catalogue and content in it supersedes the catalogue (prices, products codes, etc).
To get your mouse pointers’ mitts on this add-on simply click the link below to view/download the PDF!
And yes you read that right in the supplement, we at Putrid Painting are NOT raising our Army Painter prices AT ALL! The only thing that will change over the next few days is the RRP, which you don’t pay anyway! Because we don’t believe in unjustified price hikes here at PP!

Putrid Updates
Personal Wargaming
Ok so after much thinking (that’s hard for me sometimes!), Emily and I have finally decided on what game systems we are going to be playing! We have chosen Deep Wars by Antimatter Games and Urban War by Urban Mammoth. Both games are skirmish games so will fit nicely onto our dining table and are also great value for money and excellent sculpts to boot! I have gone for the Fortune Hunters faction from Deep Wars and the Syntha Strike Team from Urban War. Emily has gone for the Dark Mariners from Deep Wars and the Koralon Strike Team from Urban War. Can’t wait to get my mitts on some minis once again and get painting and we will definitely be keeping you guys updated via a blog of some sort (which I might add as a new category so our stuff doesn’t get too mixed up in business bits!), I might also post our progress to the Facebook and Twitter pages so be sure to keep an eye out! For now here are some images of the factions we have chosen:
Ok so like I said in last weeks’ blog update we had added a few things from Fantasy Flight Games as well as some other companies and their systems! For those who haven’t been to the store yet (shame on you!) here is a list of what got added last weekend:
Ok so those of you who follow us on Facebook and Twitter will know that I had promised a mental deal on some paints starting from this weekend! Well my fellow warmongers I am (probably going to regret this!) smashing, no DEMOLISHING the price of the Colours of Battle paints to a mere £1 PER POT, saving you a massive 0.95p(compared to buying it at the RRP of £1.95) on every pot you buy! I know you probably think I’m mad (who doesn’t!) but heck you lot deserve it! So go ahead and check out the Colours of Battle paints on the webstore, I’m going to be keeping the price at this amount for a while and it is ONLY going to be at that price while stocks last! So if you are unsure of the stock levels please look at the product description as we have now implemented a live stock system that shows exactly how many we have. Failing that you can always get in contact (see bottom of blog for details)!
This week we have a new release from our good pals at The Army Painter! They have released an extremely durable and self-healing cutting mat that will last you a long time. They have also thrown out a spare drill bits and pins set, perfect for you budding pinners out there!
Don’t forget about this great event that’s going on in May this year! Sponsored by ourselves here at Putrid Painting and run by the fantastic Mid-Wales Wargaming Society this event hope to bring together not just clubs from around the wales but all wargamers within reach! So if you can get to this event and love playing 40k battles then this is your event! Many prizes to be won as well including a Dropzone Commander 2 Player Starter set provided by us! So click the link above and have a look!
Spud Tate takes on the might of Dan Cain of 11th Legion, Moggy of Moggys Miniatures and The GreatJoJoMan from Enter the Wolftime in this next episode of HQ deaaaaathmaaaatch! Will Dan win? Will Spud eat an entire chicken in one episode? Will Moggy beat the heck out of everyone (probably!)? Or will JoJoMan come in “swinging like a windmill” and decimate everyone? Find out by watching below!
Tentacles, puss, sludge and all things Nurgly are talked about with GreatJoJoMans’ latest The Infection Spreads episode! WARNING: MAY CONTAIN STRONG LANGUAGE!
A personal good friend of mine and someone that you guys will soon see added to the Putrid webstore is the work and stylings of Paul Simpson of Gemini Miniatures, now I know it’s been a while since I have posted an update on him so it’s about time he got some coverage as he’s been mega busy! Last week he posted pictures up of a finished character for his Bloodfeud game and by god it looks amazing! Also posted up was an almost completed 2nd character! Which looks just as epic! Pictures below!

Welcome back to the Putrid Painting Blog, the ONLY place to get the latest releases and news within the Putrid Painting Network!
We have a good amount to cover this week so I’ll get stuck in straight away!
Putrid Updates
The Blog
The keen eyed amongst you (which is most likely all of you warmongers!) will notice that the blog has not only changed in style but also in where it is located. We have indeed decided to trial run a full wordpress account instead of our usual integrated one we use for our site, this is because I have wanted to post videos to the blog and our older integrated one just won’t let us do it but this version does so we are putting this on trial for a bit to see how it goes, if people don’t like it then we shall go back to the good old favourite!
The Webstore
Emily has been super busy completely re-designing the structure and theme of the Putrid webstore over the last week or two and I have to say it’s looking great! We have had some brilliant feedback already and around 90% of the warmongers we asked about it said they really liked the new layout and style! If you haven’t seen this yet then I strongly suggest you head over there now and take a look (in a new tab obviously, you don’t wanna miss the Putrid news do you?!), simply click HERE to head to the webstore!
Personal Updates
So myself and Emily are going to be buying into a new game system very soon and yes it’s one we sell but it is one we have liked the look of for a while now and decided with some money raised from some personal bits I’m selling, we are going to be getting…Deep Wars by Antimatter Games! This skirmish/rpg game is set completely underwater and not only do the models look outstanding but from what I’ve read so far the rules are exciting too! We will have more updates on this as we start collecting so keep and eye out for personal posts from myself and Emily in the future! Might even make a separate category for it here!
No you aren’t drunk/going mad (well you might be!), you are seeing a brand new range we can get hold of! More details on them later but for now this means that we can now order in the Star Wars X-Wing Miniature Game as well as a good selection of expansion packs! As you read this the products will be available to order in via our webstore (follow the hyperlinked title above!) where you find our prices cheaper than some of the bigger wargames retailers on the internet! Because we love you more than they do ;).
There are other games we have added today, head on over to take a look!
This week we have some releases from Micro Art Studios in the form of some very nice terrain and bases! We have some Terminals which have been designed to go with the ever popular Infinity game system but also work with most 28mm scale games, for those of you looking to buy into some new aliens this weekend they have released a Hive Defense Line which is perfect to hide your ranged support behind so you can blast down your humanoid enemies behind the saftey of a wall! We also have a new addition to the incresingly popular TauCeti range in the form of a habitat and also a new range of Pipework wRound bases, perfect for steampunk or any tabletop system for that matter!
Secret Weapon
From Secret Weapon this week we have a Pigment fixer which acts as a bonding agent to keep your pigments firmly stuck to your models! Here’s what they have to say on their new product:
“This unique enamel fixative creates a permanent bond between your model and the pigments, without altering the texture or color of the pigments.
Apply with a brush over the pigments via capillary action to keep a soft texture. Sprinkle pigments over fixative to get a rough texture. Or create a wash with pigments and fixative for a dusty finish“
Fantastic! So you need not worry about your precious mud coated tank loosing its’ dirty look with this awesome product!
So as you’ve seen above we have introduced Fantasy Flight Games to our ranges! But it isn’t just X-Wing we are going to be selling oh no! For if you head over to the webstore after reading the blog you will see tabs called Card games and Board games, we will be selling a selection from Fantasy Flight Games’ (DUST Tactics, Anrdoid: Netrunner, Game of Thrones Card Game) as well as some others! We have also eyed up a few other manufacturers but we are testing the water with mainly Fantasy Flight first. Click the title of this section to be taken back to the webstore and see for yourself!
In this segment of the blog, I would like to dedicate somewhere to the friends of Putrid Painting, these are the people that we are either trying to help or are involved with in some way! This will be updated as regularly as the blog (as long as there is fresh content to show you!) so make sure to read this segment every week to keep up!
Spud Tate
This weeks latest video from Wargamer Spud Tate is a video from his How NOT to build series where he updates us on the current progress of his 1/35 scale Stug III tank! Give it a watch, throwdown a sub and like if you enjoyed and as he would say, turn up the #BASE!
GreatJoJoMan
JoJoMan is a man/wolf of pure legend, a creature like no other and a madman of greenstuff and his latest installment of his Hobby Tips series is a video on how to use an airbrush and the dos and don’ts of owning and using one! Just started airbrushing? Then give this a watch! WARNING: COULD CONTAIN STRONG LANGUAGE!
Power Armoured Metal
Matt of Power Armoured Metal is a friend I have known for well over a year now and I have watched him grow in leaps and bounds in his kitbashing, painting and overall blogging and I’m super happy that he is doing so well. In his latest blog he tells us about some changes that will be made to his regular blogs and also what he would like to achieve this year. Keep an eye on this guys because I can see big things from him in the future so be sure to follow his blog and social media pages which I will link at the end of this blog.
Roses and Boltshells are cosplayers like nothing I have ever seen, also the fantastic drawers of the Putrid Painting official logo these guys are among, if not THE best creators of cosplay costumes I have ever seen and I’m honestly surprised they haven’t been recruited to some costume making company of some sort. Latest updates include a professionaly photographed album of their latest costumes, if you like massive power armor and flames then I highly suggest you go take a look and leave a like if you loved it!
Well that’s it for another Putrid Painting Blog, I hope you like the new layout, we would really appreciate it if you could leave any feedback in the comments section below! If you would like to know anything about any of the things discussed in today’s blog you can do some by contact us via our contact means provided above!
Anyway I’m off now, have yourselves a great weekend warmongers and I’ll see you next week for another blog!
