This weekend has proven very busy for everyone here at Putrid Wargaming Supplies UK. But now we can relax, and share with you a bumper community update.

Great JoJoMan
JoJoMan’s taking a break from the usual plaguey-goodness and has been working on some Space Marines. Check out his progress below (WARNING: may contain swearing):
Power Armoured Metal
Matt’s been raiding the bits-box, and has managed to make a whole squad from junk. Check out the squad in detail here.
Chuffy
Chuffy’s painted this excellent Heresy-era Salamanders Terminator Captain for an upcoming competition. Check out his page for more on this and other great models.
Roses and Boltshells
The costume-making duo have shared a video of one of their latest works, a Space Marine Scout. Check out this cool costume below:
Rainbows and Unicorns Entertainment
This funny stop-motion battle has been making the rounds lately, catching the attention of the guys over at the WGC. The video is made by Rainbows and Unicorns Entertainment:
Chilling Wargamers
CWG have announced that next week’s show will have Wargamma on as their guest. Check out the CWG page for more info, and this link to check out Wargamma’s works.
And that concludes another weekend update. If you have any questions feel free to contact us:
We are proud to announce a new website for the business, renamed Putrid Wargaming Supplies UK. You can access the new site by going to www.wargames-uk.co.uk, whilst the old site will now direct you towards the new web-store. This will be the case for the next year, so you can get used to using the new domain. It will take some time to adjust to the changes, and the new store is still in-progress, but we hope you will all enjoy the new site and the plans we have for it.
International Table Top Day
Today (April 5) is ITTD. We want to see you having as many games as possible today, so get playing, and if you like, post pictures of your battles to the Facebook page. Adam and Emily will also be visiting the Mid Wales Wargaming Society today (until 8pm), so if you get the chance, go say hi and enjoy one of the many games they are demonstrating.
Spud is currently in the United States, eager to enjoy the wonders of Adepticon (and American chicken-based edibles). One of his latest videos is an entertaining collaboration with fellow Putrid friend the Great JoJoMan. This video highlights their upcoming foodstuff-themed game, Condiment Wars:
WGC
The WGC’s April threat is now in full swing. Here are a few of the many great projects people are aiming to finish this month:
The fires of progress continue relentlessly, and we have more projects to share, fresh from the workbenches of the Putrid Painting team.
Emily
Emily’s been working non-stop it seems on the demonstration armies for International Table Top Day. This week, she’s completed both Bushido forces (The Cult of Yurei and Temple of Ro-Kan) to be used at the events held at the Mid Wales Wargaming Society.
Matt
I’ve broken out my airbrush and have started working on two models, which I’ve entered for the WGC April Threat.
First up is this daemonically possessed Chaos Relic Predator. It is early stages yet, but so far I’ve painted the armour’s basic colour, and have started painting the weaponry.
I’ve decided to paint the daemonic section in a bright purple/pink. I’ve used acrylic paint thinner to create a soft blend between blue armour and purple flesh. It makes for a nice contrast, and signifies that it is a possessed tank, with daemons constantly altering the form of this battle machine.
Next up, and sporting more progress, is this Chaos Sorcerer. It was make from a mass of random parts, namely:
-Evil Craft legs, torso and backpack
-GW Librarian’s book arm
-Maxmini Mecha Egyptian helmet
-Puppets War sorcerer shoulderpad
-GW Raptor power sword
This collection of bits has created a neat looking sorcerer, who be directing the troops in the near future. So far, the base colours have been applied and washed, next up is the highlighting and detailing.
As well as that sorcerer, I’ve been working on this brute of a Sorcerer, in a large suit of intimidating Terminator Armour. The model is based on Forge World’s Lord Zhufor, with a lot of modification.
As you can see, he is a large chap, easily dwarfing cultists and marines alike.
That is all for this week, but keep an eye out on Facebook: chances are we will share further progress soon.
Another week, another update on what we, and the community, have been up to over the last few days
Putrid Team-Adam and Emily
We’ve been quite busy this last week, especially Adam and Emily, who are continuing to prepare for International Table Top Day.
The two received a set of fantasy terrain from Candy Art Studio, as you may have seen last weekend. Here are a few more pictures of this great set of scenery.
As you can see, the terrain was well packed and secure. Each item was individually wrapped, and we can report that there was no damage to the terrain.
And here’s some close-ups of the terrain:
Double-fountain.
Wells and fountains.
Abandoned carts.
The Brotherhood war band for the Empire of the Dead demo games is now complete, and ready to show off.
Brotherhood Deacon Leader.
2nd in command Confessor.
Brother with pistol.
Brother with Crossbow.
Matt
I admit that I’ve been quiet on the modelling front. I’ve been away visiting family, and celebrating an anniversary.
However, that did pay off model-wise, as I got an epic model as an anniversary gift. I got Forge World’s Khorne Lord Zhufor, a brutal killer-stroke-psychopath: a model so covered in skulls it’s hard to see the man inside!
I have some interesting plans for the model. It’s not going to remain Khorne for long: I plan to convert it to follow the Changer of the Ways: Tzeentch. To do this, I’ll be doing a lot of cutting and shaving of details. I also plan to change the head, and use a different right-hand weapon. Likely a Gun-Glaive from Maxmini. I want to keep the cool Commissar’s skeleton, and I might paint it to look animated, a cool count-as familiar. The end-result should be a large, intimidating Terminator Sorcerer with a talking skeleton sidekick!

New Additions
We have added two new friends to the list: Gemini Miniatures and Miniature Maniacs. Miniature Maniacs is a commission-based miniature painting service, and you should all know by now who Gemini is! Expect to see updates from these two in the near future.
GreatJoJoMan
We thought this video from Great JoJoMan would be very valuable to those working with airbrushes who are experiencing the dreaded blockage. We’d normally save this or the weekend update, but proper airbrush maintenance is essential! WARNING: May contain swearing:
That is all for this week. We shall continue to update you on our projects, as well as the goings on in the community. See you again this weekend.
Today, we can reveal some amazing terrain pieces that we will be using at ITTD, made by the fantastic Pete from Candy Art Studio. These pieces will be used on our fantasy demo boards.
Mystic fountain.
Abandoned carts.
Wells of wonder.

Hello, I’m Matt. You may remember me from such broadcast media outlets like Power Armoured Metal and….
*Normal-mode*
Hello everyone. I am Matthew Davies, and I have just joined the Putrid Painting team as their new online media editor. Before I take my place on my mighty skull-lined throne as a wanabee press baron, I thought I’d share a little bit about who I am and what you can expect from the Putrid blog in the future.
I am a 21 year third-year journalism student from North Yorkshire, England. I am soon to graduate, which is actually a bit scary now that I think about it! I have been a war-gamer since I was in primary school, so in theory, I should know a thing or two about 40k and other war-games. I’m a new-ish player to Bolt Action, and you can expect me to get very giddy when Putrid gets new Axis items in store, or in fact any items (if you have seen my early-war German force, you will know I have a habit of looting tanks from other armies, with plans to add a Somua S35 and a mighty KV-2!). When I’m not gaming you can find me at heavy metal gigs, dying my hair odd colours or in my car that doesn’t strictly move at the moment.
Before coming here to help out at Putrid Painting, I have been working here and there a journalist in and outside the war-gaming world. I am the owner and editor of Power Armoured Metal, a bi-weekly news, review and gaming blog, where I share the many adventures I have within the hobby. The blog has been running for around two-and-a-half years now and has proved pretty popular. If you haven’t liked the page on Facebook yet, like it now (Adam will back me up on this!) Outside of the hobby, I have worked a bit in local newspapers as a reporter, namely The Scarborough News and the Barnsley Chronicle. I have also worked briefly for a music web-magazine (who shall not be named because they were evil, and not the good kind of evil where I’m promised cookies if I conquer other planets). Being a journalist gives me a great chance to meet with people who I wouldn’t normally get to meet in person. Through this I’ve managed to speak with people from bands, magazine editors and charities.
In terms of the blog, I’m going to make a few changes, nothing too drastic mind, since Adam and Emily have a really good setup here. The blog will become your one-stop-shop for Putrid news and updates. I have a few ideas in the pipeline, namely regular ‘staff projects’. Hopefully, every week or two, the Putrid team (either one of us or all of us) will share what they’ve been working on, whether it is a model or a new army. I thought it would be fun to share our enjoyment of the hobby with you.
That’s enough of a monologue from me: now it’s time to get on with the weekend’s news!
Putrid News
International Table-top day
We, along with the local gaming community, will be celebrating International Table Top Day next month! We will be attending an event at the Mid Wales Wargaming society. We will be there from 10am until 8pm. The Club, which meets at St Marys Church Hall on Church Street in Builith Wells, Powys, will be hosting several participation games for you to enjoy, with free entry.
At the Mid Wales Wargaming Society event, we will be demonstrating several games, including the following:
Dropzone Commander (Hawk Wargames)
Urban War (Urban Mammoth)
Deep Wars/Shadow Sea (Antimatter Games)
X-Wing (Fantasy Flight Games)
Empire of the Dead (West Wind Productions)
MERCS (West Wind Productions)
Wolsung SSG (Micro Art Studio)
Bushido (GCT Studios)
A schedule for when we will demo which games will be announced on the Facebook page soon.
As well as that, there is an event over to Tredegar Reavers Wargames Club, from 9am to 9pm on Saturday April 5. From board games to table-top, there’s plenty to enjoy. You can find the club at the Kids R Us Venue 2, on Nantybwch, Tredegar.
Catalogue Discontinuation
We will be discontinuing our catalogue supplements from this month. As we have almost completed updating the 4000-plus items to the web store, we see no need in having the catalogue. Updates on when products will be active, and new products, will continue on this blog. For club visits we will still have a catalogue or two at hand.
New Releases
Megalith Games
Four new items have been released on the web-store for Megalith Games’ Godslayer.
First off, we have the Cromlech Guard set, which comes with six finely detailed models and 12 tokens.
Fans of the British world-war-two-themed comedy Dad’s Army will enjoy this commemorative box set. The box set contains 18 models of the most loved characters from the show, both in ‘civvies’ and in Home Guard uniforms. These would make a great addition to British forces.

So if you like the updates you see on the blog and want to know more about upcoming (or future) products you can get in touch with PP directly via the following methods:
Hello and welcome to the Putrid Painting Blog! THE place to get the latest and greatest news on the inner goings on of Putrid Painting!
First off I would like to apologise for the lack of regular updates, it’s been a busy few weeks for myself and Emily and we hope to get back into the usual rhythm soon!
Putrid News
Those of you who follow us on Facebook and Twitter will already know about this but heck there’s no harm in being reminded!
The January supplement for our catalogue is now available to download, this is meant to be read alongside the main catalogue and content in it supersedes the catalogue (prices, products codes, etc).
To get your mouse pointers’ mitts on this add-on simply click the link below to view/download the PDF!
And yes you read that right in the supplement, we at Putrid Painting are NOT raising our Army Painter prices AT ALL! The only thing that will change over the next few days is the RRP, which you don’t pay anyway! Because we don’t believe in unjustified price hikes here at PP!

Hello fellow warmongers and welcome to week 4 of the January Putrid Painting (PP) blog, the ONLY place to get detailed news on what is going on inside the PP camp!
This week we have a good amount of content ranging from updates from us here at PP, news from Army Painter HQ, so let’s get stuck into it!
So Emily has been busy updating the webstore with lots of new ranges for you all to drool over and buy! The following ranges have been added to the webstore:
Believe it or not we still have more ranges to add! If you wish to see what else we can get in for you then please download our 2014 catalogue which can be found by clicking the link below (you will need a PDF browser viewer/external PDF program to read this):
So last weekend I visited a couple of wargaming clubs and set up shop. Saturday saw me visiting the Mid-Wales Wargaming Society (MWWS)for the first time, I eventually parked up (with some help from Andrew the chairman!) and stayed from 12-5pm and had a great time chatting, selling and even playing some Deadzone (Mantic Games)! You may of heard the clubs name before as the MWWS is the club that is holding a 40k tournament in aid of Help4Heros and we are sponsoring them! To find out more on this event please click the link below:
Sunday saw me visiting Castle Gamers in Bridgend and they were having a clear out of their huge amount of terrain, I was even tempted to grab some but resisted temptation to let the members grab some bargains. They were also having a painting session getting members to do painting touch-ups to any of the club terrain that needed a fresh lick of paint, I found this good to see such a strong community spirit in the club and everyone was having a blast doing it!
Putrid sales and offers!
In case you missed last weeks’ update, we announced that we are having a bit of a clearance sale on the Colours of Battle paints, we have reduced these to just £1 per pot! Head to the webstore to check this out!
Also during the week we found out that our main supplier has still got a good stock of the Deadzone game Mantic Games! So we decided to create a special offer deal just for you guys! In case you forgot what this awesome game looks like please see the below images:
Now if you head over to the Deadzone page on the webstore you will notice that we have faction deals! The more you buy the more you save so be sure to grab a bargain before stock goes! I’m looking at placing an order during next week so if you want a nice quick turn around then now is the time warmongers!
Micro Art have come out with another stunning defence line that is themed around cybernetic beings that wish to destroy eveything in their path, hey even they need something to duck behind when being shot at! Anyway these are beautiful and will look awesome on the field of battle!
Spartan have released yet more awesomeness for their Firestorm Armarda game with all 6 factions getting a carrier and crusier group box set!
The Army Painter News
Ok so we have received some rather unfortunate news from our supplier regarding the Army Painter, they have announced that from 1st February 2014 they will increasing the prices on a number of their products, while this is somewhat bewildering to me as of why they are doing this (due to the fact it’s on products that aren’t even new!) you can be well assured that here at PP, we will be doing our very best to NOT increase our discounted prices! So you know what’s coming, here is the list of items they are increasing the RRPs on:
All prices below are in £GBP
Insane Detail Brush – 2.75 up to 3.25
Detail Brush – 2.75 up to 3.50
Character Brush – 3.25 up to 3.75
Regiment Brush – 3.50 up to 4.00
Psycho Brush – 2.75 up to 3.25
Matt Black Spray – 7.50 up to 8.50
Matt White Spray – 7.50 up to 8.50
Matt Varnish Spray – 8.50 up to 8.99
All of the Battlefield Basing tubs – 2.99 up to 3.50
Now remember what I said above, you guys will NEVER pay the RRP of a product, we will always offer our products at a discounted rate so don’t worry too much about the price increase because if I can help it you won’t be paying ANY extra for these items! But I advise that if you do need anything from the Army Painter range get it sooner rather than later just in case we do have to put our prices up a bit (due to cost price increases).
With the theme of last week mainly looking towards Games Workshop and their recent stocks dropping like a lead balloon a lot of the friends network have been talking about what would happen IF they went bust, and also what could they do to improve?
Matt talks about what would happen if GW were indeed to go bust, how would the hobbyists cope? Would life as we know it continue? Click the link below and read on to find out!
In this vLog from Spud, he spills his wargamer heart to us about why GW dipped like it did and puts a good few points across, go ahead and watch the video to find out more warmongers!
In this video, JoJoMan shows us how he does his nurgly tentacles! Excellent hobby tips as always! Watch to find out how he does it!

So if you like the updates you see on the blog and want to know more before it goes up on the webstore (and can’t wait until the end of month supplement!) you can get in touch with PP directly via the following methods:
And that’s it for another update warmongers! Next week will see the January 2014 Supplement which will show all the new releases we have talked about in the last month and more so be sure to be around for that one!
I will see you next week unless I see you all online!
Hello warmongers and welcome to the first of (hopefully) many reviews from the Putrid Painting “office” (my study!). In this post we are going to be focusing on the models of Deep Wars created by AntiMatter Games, myself and Emily have purchased personally into these as we wanted to get into a Skirmish tabletop wargame but not one that everyone is playing so it injects a bit of variety! So today we are going to review the models themselves and assembly!
The unboxing
So upon looking at the box we see a nice bit of artwork on the fronts of both boxes but Emily notices something, the picture comes off revealing a blank “starter box” underneath, nice way to save time and money!
The inside of the box was an even bigger shocker, loose fill (widgets, etc) was filling the box, protecting the precious goodies inside. I was dead impressed with this! After emptying out the box Emily and I were left with 5 models, 1 quickstart rules, 5 stat cards and a card containing info on how to obtain our free Deep Wars PDF rules download! Jam packed with awesome!
Assembly
Ok so we start things off with the Fortune Hunters Anti-Ship breaching mech and ooooh boy I get to tinker with resin yay! I’m utterley gobsmacked with how well detailed this model is, not only that but it came with it’s own stunning detailed base, WOWZER! Assembly didn’t take long and with the use of the magical Loctite superglue gel it wasn’t hard to stick most of the models together. There were also very little issues with regards to flash which is always nice 🙂
Ok so now we move onto the metal casted models and we have much the same standard of quality, great detail, little/no flash or “worms” and again every model had it’s own detailed base! Here are a couple of photos to show off what I mean:
I’m really impressed by these kits and for what they cost me (ok I supply them so can get them cheaper but even at our prices they are still fantastic value for money!) I’m pleasantly surprised on how detailed and well cast they all are! To finish off here is the entire lot of models we had:
And that’s sadly it for now! I will update you all on progress as it happens! Battle reports to come soon too so stay tuned!
If you have a review you would like to submit then send it to putridpainting@gmail.com and we will gladly look it over and publish it to here!
Hello and welcome to another category in the Putrid Blog I like to call “Putrid Battle Reports” where you can see Bat reps from anyone who sends in there epic tales of battle from the tabletop scene! You might even see one from myself form time-to-time!
The first one comes from Kevin Rowland, chairman of the Tredegar Reavers wargames club, author of the Death by Die blog and mastermind behind Big Picture Photography! He has sent in his most recent battle report (via blogger link) where he goes up against the most unsavory of foes from the Warhammer 40k universe…Dark Eldar (cue evil music)!
Will he make it out with minimal casualties and be victorious? Will he be crushed and taken away to be tortured? Or will it be a close match? Find out by reading his blog linked below!
If you want you submit a battle report (from any game!) then you can do so by sending it to the Putrid Painting email address at putridpainting@gmail.com!
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you real soon for another post!
